Would you still be friends w/ someone who refuses to hang out with you in person but only wants to chat online?

i was sort of dating this guy very briefly, and then we were just friends for a while, hanging out every day. Then suddenly, he decides he doesn't want to hang out with me anymore because he "doesn't want to have anything to do with anyone who shows interest in him," and he "feels awkward talking to other girls around me." (quoted by him). Now he IMs me everyday to talk from behind a computer screen, and he expects me to just talk to him like we are friends when he refuses to see me in person. Would you go along with this?
