Got a bfp today, need help?

So we got the long awaited bfp on the hpt today. DH and I cannot come to a consensus on when is the appropriate time to tell family, friends, and work. I say as soon as the doc confirms, we're free to tell family and friends. He's super paranoid that if we tell anyone about it something bad will happen. I think that's a bunch of nonsense. What's all of your take on it? How long did you wait before you told people?
