How do I get the right RAM?

I have 128MB DDR 33MHz CL2.5 (256 RAM total) and want to upgrade by buying a total of 1GB or 2GB. Should I just look for any DDR RAM or do I need a specific type? Also, if i by new RAM, can it still be used in conjunction with my other RAM? Thanks for any help you can give me.
