A question about teeth.?

My little guy is 5 and about a month ago lost his first tooth. I know the second bottom one is next, so have been waiting for it to become lose. Well now I don't have to wait cause the other day he used his teeth to pull his mitt off and out came the tooth. he said ow, and when I looked it was bleeding. It didn't take long to clot. The root was pretty long on it and now you can see a bruise where the tooth was. Is it possible that he damaged his adult tooth
