Do electric vehicles emit harmful electromagnetic radiation that is of any concern?

With the advent of hybrids and possibly electric vehicles, this is a possible side effect. I was discussing this with an electrical engineer yesterday, and he said he would not wish to be subjected to the EMR given off from super high voltage systems needed to power electric vehicles. Any electrical experts out there have some input?
