Codes for a 1994 plymouth acclaim?

my acclaim will not start it just died out on me on the road. i will be honest, i don't know a thing about cars at all. how do i get the codes for it and how do i find out what it means. i remember that if you turn the the ignition on and off a few times the check engine light flashes, but i cant remember how many times you do that to get the code or what the flashes mean or where to find out what the flashes mean. any help here would be very very appreciated! thanks everyone
